The grime artist, winner of a Mercury Prize, performs at the river beach of Taboão, on August 17th. Since "Greatest Hits", the acclaimed debut album in 2007, that Skepta's rise has been unstoppable. While arguing that grime was never asleep, Joseph Junior Adenuga played his part in the resurgence of the genre. Inspired by British and American hip-hop, he began his career in the pirate radio circuit and in MC battles. After the early work and keeping a more reserved profile, Skepta had a creative resurgence and came back in great shape in 2014 with the contribution to a remix of Meridian Dan's "German Whip" or the release of "That's Not Me" single which became a worldwide success. "Shutdown", released the following year, received attention from Drake and Kanye West, and earned him a performance with the latter. "Konnichiwa" came out in 2016 for great critical and public acclaim, and was followed by the EP "Vicious", a small explosion of six songs with collaborations by Lil B, Section Boyz and A$AP Rocky and A$AP Nast.
