Born in south-east London, Lola Young is known for her powerful voice, her authentic musical style - in which we can find a mix of R&B, soul and pop - and the way she deals with themes such as love, identity and self-knowledge. She gained prominence on the international music scene in 2019 with the release of her album Intro, which showed the world her ability to create emotive songs and her impressive vocal ability. Years later, as well as the legendary mullet hairstyle, Young released an album interpreted as fearless and gritty, its title, My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely (2023), and according to the artist “it's aimed at everyone who thinks songs are about them”. In 2024, she released This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway, a project that is as irresistible as it is unexpected, lyrically fueled by anger, passion, narrative flair and comic mockery. It's a contemporary break-up album, it's the sound of what it means to be young and in constant romantic chaos and it's the story of a journey between two relationships: one over and the other, something in between.
