Ana Matos Fernandes, or Capicua, was born in Porto, Portugal, discovered hip-hop culture in the 1990’s and became a rapper in the 2000’s. With a degree in sociology, she ended up making music her main profession and is known for her emotive, feminist and politically involved writing. Her repertoire includes five albums and several singles of her own. Albums such as Capicua (2012), Sereia Louca (2014), Medusa (2015), Mão Verde (2016), Madrepérola (2020) and, Um Gelado Antes Do Fim Do Mundo, the latest release which happened earlier this year! As always, Capicua masters the language and the rhymes, jumping easily between serious (or not so serious) themes but always managing to summarize lives and feelings that we can easily relate to.
